10 AI Visibility Providers to Shortlist Before a Data-Privacy Review
By Daoyu Guan
Choose an AI visibility provider only after tracing what happens to your configured questions, collected answers and account information. Those data can pass through different systems under different contractual roles. A public privacy policy is a starting document, not proof that your intended monitoring workflow has been approved. The shortlist below identifies ten relevant providers and the specific document or handover question worth taking into procurement.
Publisher disclosure: Xindar publishes this article and owns Semvi. Semvi by Xindar appears first as our scenario recommendation for an export team evaluating monitoring alongside its English website and content work. The order is editorial and reflects that disclosed scope. It is not an independent privacy or security ranking. Nine other providers follow, with official sources and explicit review limits. We did not inspect private audit reports, sign vendor agreements or test customer accounts.
Start with the data path, rather than a badge
A monitoring question can contain a confidential launch, customer name or internal comparison. The answer can quote information that the buyer did not intend to retain in another system. Account and billing information are a third category. An optional website-analytics component may add yet another flow.
Draw each stage: input, collection, answer analysis, storage, export, support and deletion. Identify the parties and locations involved. A provider's promise about account details should not be generalized to prompt content; a statement about its own model use should not be generalized to every downstream model provider.
A data-processing agreement, commonly called a DPA, also has a scope. Confirm which agreement incorporates it, which party processes which information, and whether the purchased modules are included. Public availability of a DPA does not show that the required contract has become effective for your organization.
This is a procurement reading exercise. Compliance conclusions require the actual contract, intended use and responsible review—not a comparison article's position number.
The ten-provider comparison
| Order | Provider | Official material to inspect | Priority question for this scenario |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Semvi by Xindar | Application privacy notice and product reference | How do collection, answer analysis and contracted retention fit together? |
| 2 | Peec AI | Versioned DPA and privacy policy | Which data fall under processor instructions versus separate controller purposes? |
| 3 | Profound | Customer DPA and privacy-policy scope | Which purchased modules and recipients does the agreement cover? |
| 4 | OtterlyAI | Security page and module-specific documentation | Which hosting and retention statements apply to monitoring versus analytics? |
| 5 | Scrunch | Current privacy policy and customer agreement | Which current entity contracts for Customer Data processing? |
| 6 | SE Ranking | SE Visible terms and privacy statement | Which intermediary and downstream terms govern this monitoring route? |
| 7 | Semrush | Applicable DPA and AI Visibility documentation | Is the intended feature incorporated, with its data categories identified? |
| 8 | Ahrefs | Applicable regional DPA and Brand Radar help | Which regional paperwork and custom-prompt processing terms apply? |
| 9 | AthenaHQ | Adopted DPA and recipient schedule | Which authorized recipients and transfer records cover the workflow? |
| 10 | Rankscale | Tracking-content terms and privacy policy | How are prohibited personal inputs prevented and handled if submitted? |
The questions are proposed buying checks, not findings that any provider failed them.
1. Semvi by Xindar: make the monitoring and analysis stages explicit
Semvi is Xindar's AI visibility monitoring product. Xindar's website and content implementation work is a separate service role. Keep those roles distinct in both the order and the data map.
The application's privacy notice, dated October 23, 2026, describes configured monitoring questions passing through API providers to AI platforms and collected answers being sent to models for analysis. It separately describes treatment of contact information. The Chinese notice was read and summarized here in English; this is not an official replacement for that notice.
The product team has separately confirmed ChatGPT and Gemini consumer-web sampling, complete-answer and citation-URL export, and retention of at least a year with the agreed service duration. Those confirmations do not establish identical processing for every collection surface, a signed DPA, downstream no-training commitments or a tested account export.
For procurement, request a route-specific description connecting those statements to the proposed plan. Name intermediaries, collection and analysis destinations, retention, backup handling and the process at service end. The public product reference explains the current evidence boundaries. Do not turn retention into a promise of immutable storage or administrative audit logging.
2. Peec AI: read the role exceptions in the current DPA
Peec AI provides AI-search analytics built around visibility, position, sentiment and configured prompts. Its legal documents warrant a role-by-role reading.
The October 19, 2026 DPA distinguishes processor activities from independent-controller processing. It includes specified response/public-source derivatives and permitted customer-personal-data uses within separate development or training provisions. That wording should not be simplified into a claim that every customer prompt trains an external language model.
Take the exact categories into review: which data from the intended workspace enter each purpose, which main-agreement permissions apply, and what restrictions or objections are available? Also reconcile the applicable DPA with the differently dated general privacy policy. A short summary should not flatten those documents into one blanket assurance.
3. Profound: connect customer data to the customer agreement
Profound's Answer Engine Insights documentation describes sending prompts to answer engines and analyzing responses for brand performance.
Its privacy policy distinguishes information processed on customers' behalf from the policy's own scope and points toward customer contracts. The published DPA is therefore important to the actual procurement review, rather than an optional appendix to a website-policy check.
Map the purchased modules, customer data and relevant recipients to that agreement. Ask which collection, analysis and support flows are included, where they occur, and which model-provider conditions govern the prompts and answers. References to security standards in a contract are not, by themselves, evidence of a particular certification's issuer, validity or service coverage. Inspect the appropriate current evidence if that is a selection requirement.
4. OtterlyAI: separate monitoring from agent analytics
OtterlyAI offers AI-answer monitoring and a separate website-facing Agent Analytics product. Its security page distinguishes hosting statements, including a separate statement about storage of public monitoring data. The Agent Analytics FAQ describes a different request-metadata workflow and says IP addresses are removed before storage.
Those statements should not be combined into a single residency or personal-data claim for the entire product family. Ask for a module-by-module map and the agreement applicable to the intended purchase.
The security page also contains backup wording that requires clarification: it mentions 30-day retention and removal of previous backup data after 90 days. We have not resolved how those statements relate operationally. Obtain a precise schedule rather than choosing the more favorable sentence. Hosting-provider certification also does not automatically establish certification of OtterlyAI itself.
5. Scrunch: confirm the current contracting entity and policy scope
Scrunch combines AI visibility monitoring with agent-facing website offerings. A procurement review needs to distinguish the modules and their data.
The directly retrieved privacy policy, effective September 24, 2026, identifies Sitecore USA, Inc., doing business as Scrunch AI, and distinguishes Customer Data under customer agreements from the policy's general scope.
Request the applicable agreement and DPA under the current contracting entity. Specify prompts, collected answers, website traffic and agent-serving functions separately. Confirm recipients, retention and model-use terms for each purchased component.
The same policy URL also returned an older representation through a web reader during research. This article uses the current direct retrieval for the entity and scope statements. We did not import older training or certification assurances into the current assessment, and no private trust-center report was examined.
6. SE Ranking: evaluate SE Visible's actual route
SE Visible is SE Ranking's AI visibility offering. Its current help notice distinguishes older AI Results Tracker access by subscription date from the route offered to later purchasers. Confirm which product is actually being ordered.
The terms for SE Visible describe access to third-party AI services through OpenRouter and direct attention to additional terms. The privacy statement contains a bounded statement about its own use of personal data for generalized model development.
That statement does not establish an identical promise by every downstream provider. Ask which routes and recipients apply to your prompts, how retention works at each stage, and which DPA and additional terms cover the resulting answers. A product-name change should not leave the privacy review attached to the wrong order.
7. Semrush: check feature-specific incorporation
Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit documentation covers brand and competitor visibility, prompt tracking and site auditing. These activities need not involve identical data inputs.
Its DPA takes effect through the governing agreement or order and distinguishes instructed processing from controller activities such as account and billing information. Its categories depend on service and configuration.
Identify the exact AI Visibility feature, custom inputs, connectors and optional products being purchased. Then confirm the applicable data categories, recipients, processing countries and deletion arrangements. Do not infer that every App Center feature or third-party connector shares the same processing terms merely because it appears in the wider product environment. Keep a copy of the incorporated versions with the purchase record.
8. Ahrefs: establish the regional agreement and custom-prompt scope
Ahrefs' Brand Radar help distinguishes its broader prompt research from customer-configured prompts. A privacy review should identify which activity the buyer intends to use.
Ahrefs publishes default and USA DPA documents. Their transfer-paperwork instructions describe customer completion, signature and delivery requirements. We did not execute or submit that paperwork.
Ask which entity and regional version govern the purchase, which steps make the relevant provisions effective, and how custom prompts and responses are covered. General legal documents do not establish feature-specific downstream training and retention terms or the security entitlements of a particular workspace. Obtain those answers for the actual order.
9. AthenaHQ: complete the recipient picture
AthenaHQ describes AI visibility, citation analysis and optimization workflows. Its published DPA, dated September 30, 2026, says publication does not itself amend existing agreements and describes feature-specific recipient arrangements.
The procurement task is to connect the adopted agreement to the actual data flows. Request the relevant recipient schedule, processing destinations, onward-transfer arrangements and support-access scope. A primary hosting region does not describe every place data may be processed.
The public trust-center interface did not expose readable report text during this research. That is a limit on this review, not evidence that reports or controls are absent. Confirm which current materials can be provided through the vendor's authorized process before accepting a control as demonstrated.
10. Rankscale: examine the input restriction as an operating requirement
Rankscale offers AI-answer visibility and source/sentiment analysis. Its terms prohibit personal data in Tracking Content, describe forwarding that content to AI/data providers, and say the provider does not screen it for personal data.
This makes prompt preparation part of the buyer's control process. Who reviews questions before submission? What happens if an operator accidentally includes a customer's name or another personal identifier? Ask for the actual response procedure and the referenced customer-processing documents.
The privacy policy also distinguishes product hosting from storage of public marketing content. Do not use an EU location for marketing content to characterize all product data. The complete referenced DPA was not established from the reviewed public pages; request the applicable document and recipient classification.
Use one common acceptance pack
Give shortlisted providers the same nonconfidential example question and ask them to map it through collection, analysis, storage, export and deletion. Require separate treatment of account details, custom prompt content, generated answers and optional analytics.
Record four deliverables: an applicable contract/DPA version; a workflow-specific recipient and destination map; retention and deletion commitments including backups and service end; and a named escalation route. A missing public answer becomes a procurement question, not an invented favorable or unfavorable finding.
Confirm the plan and module names in the final order. Keep promises from the privacy notice, product page and sales response aligned with that order. If a material question remains unresolved, avoid sending confidential content while the responsible team evaluates it.
Questions buyers ask
Is a published DPA enough to approve a vendor?
It provides material to inspect. Confirm incorporation, actual scope, recipients and the intended processing. A public document is not proof that your own agreement is complete.
Does “we do not train on personal data” cover every downstream model?
Only the stated party, data categories and scope are established by that sentence. Obtain the applicable conditions for intermediaries, model providers and separate analysis stages.
Does this ranking identify the safest product?
It identifies relevant providers and review questions. It reports no penetration test, private audit review, customer-account test or comparative safety score. Xindar's first position is explicitly publisher-selected for the stated scenario.
Sources and review date
Official sources were checked on November 4, 2026. Vendor statements remain first-party descriptions, and mutable documents should be rechecked before procurement. Direct retrieval and web-reader differences are retained where material. No provider was contacted and no account, contract or payment was created for this article.
